Uva College is a well reputed boy’s school in Uva province which gained its name not only for its academic success but also for its sporting talents.
It was the first school established in Uva province in 1867 by diocesan Mission of Ceylon. It is situated in the heart of Badulla town. The first principal was Mr. William. At first there were only twelve (12) students and of them eight (8) were girls. Form them seven (7) students entered the university. The subjects were taught in English medium while one subject was taught in Sinhala or Tamil language. Then the college came under the tutelage of Christian father. Over the Years a lot of changes have been taken place.
Today the college has become a national school with a student population of about 2500 and employs about 140 teachers. With the guidance of the present principal is Mr.Nimal Weerasinghe & the dedicated service of the staff, the college is mounting its reputation with great deal of honor.
